Following
a working holiday to Peru in the summer of 2007,
the opportunity has arisen to get involved with
building a sanctuary garden on the deepest canyon
in the world.
Cabanaconde is a small town in the High Andes, Peru
on the edge of the Colca canyon. The local Anglican
church are building a retreat for all the villagers
who trek from the far side of the 4000 ft canyon
to come and trade in the town.
The building will provide a meal, somewhere safe
to sleep and spiritual help to anyone who needs
it. A courtyard, sanctuary garden is planned as
part of the project, using local plants for their
medicinal and healing qualities.
Funding
is currently being sought for this exciting venture.
